Intern Orientation

So Kevin and I have been attending orientation this week, learning where to go, what to do and reminded not to: park in front of fire hydrants, come to work drunk or skip clinic. Seriously. It hasn't been the most interesting week ever, but it makes both of us extremely excited to start next week.

Yesterday we went to an OB/GYN happy hour at a bar called "The Ginger Man." Turns out that there's actually one of these in NYC that we had been to with Pooja over Christmas break last year. Kev loved it because they have a MILLION different types of beer from all over the world. (Sadly they didn't have his favorite, Leffe Brune). While we were there I met the 2nd year resident who will be on my team for my first month (I start on Obstetrics). When I asked what time I should get there each morning, she said between 4:15 and 4:30am. I thought she was kidding. She wasn't.

After that, we went to dinner at a dumpling and empanada place called Lumi. We tried to get there for the Wednesday happy hour special where lots of things are half off, but we were a bit late. We tried their saucy edamame which we delicious--they came in this garlic, ginger sauce which was ridiculously good. We'd definitely go back, but hopefully make it in time for their happy hour special on Wednesdays or Fridays.

This weekend we're going to try to get to Austin to visit Matt Rappaport. We've heard great things about that city, so we're excited!

Our New Apartment!

Welcome to our blog! We figured this would be the easiest way for family and friends to stay updated on our life in Dallas.

Our new address is:
3204 Thomas Ave #1808
Dallas, TX 75204

Here are some photos of our new home! We've spent our first two weeks settling in, painting, unpacking and finding out that the NJ DMV is way more streamlined than the system here in Texas (I know--I didn't believe it at first either.)

Here's our bedroom. We painted it "Blanched Thyme". Clearly there are still a lot of things we need to get, but the vaulted ceilings are great!
Here's our living room and the couch that was EXTREMELY frustrating to find! We painted the living room "Grey Frost"
This is the den/guest room. Notice the fish on the wall. Its scales are made out of beer caps. Kev made it since we've been in Dallas. His name is Marcus.

This is the dining area of our kitchen. We got a great deal on our table from World Market!

This is another view of our kitchen. It doesn't have a ton of storage space, but I love the slate floors and dark cabinets!
We have a patio you walk through to get to the front door. We've already got some tomatoes, basil, rosemary, cilantro, parsley and hops going!

Here's what our building looks like from the front.
