Intern Orientation

So Kevin and I have been attending orientation this week, learning where to go, what to do and reminded not to: park in front of fire hydrants, come to work drunk or skip clinic. Seriously. It hasn't been the most interesting week ever, but it makes both of us extremely excited to start next week.

Yesterday we went to an OB/GYN happy hour at a bar called "The Ginger Man." Turns out that there's actually one of these in NYC that we had been to with Pooja over Christmas break last year. Kev loved it because they have a MILLION different types of beer from all over the world. (Sadly they didn't have his favorite, Leffe Brune). While we were there I met the 2nd year resident who will be on my team for my first month (I start on Obstetrics). When I asked what time I should get there each morning, she said between 4:15 and 4:30am. I thought she was kidding. She wasn't.

After that, we went to dinner at a dumpling and empanada place called Lumi. We tried to get there for the Wednesday happy hour special where lots of things are half off, but we were a bit late. We tried their saucy edamame which we delicious--they came in this garlic, ginger sauce which was ridiculously good. We'd definitely go back, but hopefully make it in time for their happy hour special on Wednesdays or Fridays.

This weekend we're going to try to get to Austin to visit Matt Rappaport. We've heard great things about that city, so we're excited!

  1. Glad you both made it thru orientation (zzzzz) and are now off and running in your residencies. The hours sound like they are going to be not so much fun....Brittany, you might find yourself starting to drink coffee! Kevin, you might need to make a little extra rocket fuel.

Dad & I are enjoying your blog. Nice work, Brittany!
